ICE-AGE is the story of three misfits (and one scrat)
who find a common cause and friendship. In today's world children
face many challenges. The home environment, their family history,
peer pressure etc. all bring problems into the lives of children.
Take a look around at the way children and youth try to express themselves,
find their self-identity ands find their purpose in life - it can be
a depressing experience for the observer, never mind the child!
The three major characters in Ice Age are representative of what we
find today:
-
Manfred the Mammoth. A loner. Turns
out that he witnessed his parents being killed, has a history of
abuse, rejection and so decided that the best way to was insulate
himself from all and any relationship.
-
Sid the Sloth. He just doesn't look or act
quite "right". Rejected by his own kind, he is only
looking for friendship. Has become something of a "character"
and comedian in the hope to try and win friends.
-
Diego the Tiger. Part of a pride, but is
not happy. He continually gives in to peer pressure and bullying
so that he can be seen to be "conforming." Is willing
to deceive, betray, lie, manipulate to protect himself.
They are brought together by a baby and when they commit themselves
to the baby, they find that they are able to meet their problems, work
together and find meaning for the lives.
How much are we like these three, yet when we commit to Jesus do we
find meaning for our lives.
